____On July 13th 2024, Bert was inducted into the Rio Grande Valley Sports Hall of Fame. Mr. Lozano has been an umpire in the Rio Grande Valley for over 50 years. Mr. Lozano has umpired college games, Mexican League games, UIL Regional Championship games and two UIL State Championship Tournaments. 
____Mr. Lozano's professionalism and dedication to umpiring the game of baseball has certainly not gone unnoticed. At 85 years young, Bert continues to be an active member of our chapter. On behalf of the Rio Grande Valley TASO Baseball Chapter,

____With only 3 years as a TASO Baseball umpire, Gustavo continues to work hard in order to make his dreams of becoming an MLB umpire become a reality. Gustavo attended an MLB camp in Houston Tx. He then attended an MLB Umpire Prospect Development Camp and graduated high in his class. He was assigned as a Single-A Umpire and is currently working in the Carolina League and Florida State League.
____Gustavo plans to continue working as many high school games as possible with our RGV TASO Baseball Chapter before returning in the spring to work in the MLB ranks.

____Rio Grande Valley Chapter member Javier Cantu is currently our TASO State Board of Directors President, a position he has held since 2022. He also served as the RGV TASO Baseball chapter President from 2017 to 2024.
____In 2008, Javier was a Honor Graduate from the Jim Evans MLB Baseball Umpire Academy. Javier worked Rookie Ball in the Arizona League. Short-A ball in the Northwest League, Long-A Season in the Midwest League.
____In 2015, Javier worked the NCAA Division-II College World Series in Cary North Carolina. Throughout the years, Javier has worked for the Big 12 Conference, Western Athletic Conference, American Athletic Conference, Mountain west Conference and the Southland Conference.
____Javier was inducted into the Mexican Professional Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016. We are proud to have Javier represent the RGV at the state level. On behalf of the RGV TASO Baseball Chapter. Congratulations Javi!
